SJVN’s Subsidiary Signs Agreement to Supply 300 MW Solar Power to Jammu & Kashmir

SJVN Limited has announced a significant development through its wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL). SGEL has recently inked a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) with Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL), marking a stride towards sustainable energy solutions.

Under this agreement, SGEL is set to supply 300 MW of Solar Power capacity to JKPCL from the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project, currently under construction in Rajasthan. This project, being developed by SJVN through SGEL under the CPSU Scheme of IREDA, represents a major investment at a cost of Rs. 5,491 crores.

Smt. Geeta Kapur, Chairperson & Managing Director of SJVN, highlighted the strategic significance of the Bikaner Solar Power Project. Notably, the project is being developed under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode and is on track for commissioning by July 2024. The power generated from this venture will serve government entities, either directly or through discoms, contributing to the nation’s energy security and sustainability goals.

SJVN’s ambitious targets align closely with the Government of India’s commitment to generate 50% of energy from non-fossil-fuel-based resources by 2030. With a vision to reach 25,000 MW capacity by 2030 and an impressive 50,000 MW capacity by 2040, SJVN is paving the way for a greener and more resilient energy landscape.
