The sustainable redevelopment project for Kochi city received Wednesday’s approval in principle from the state cabinet. Infrastructure will be developed over a sizable area that includes Marine Drive, Mangalavanam, Mulavukad, Vaduthala, and Pachalam through the scientific land pooling and meticulous town design.

To carry out the project, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be floated. To complete the tasks up until the presentation of the detailed project, a general body will be formed (DPR). The project will then be given a chief executive officer. The general consultancy division of KIIFB will be chosen as the project’s consultant.
Despite significant progress in Kochi over the past few years, some sections, like Vaduthala, remain still behind. The government is preparing a specific programme to make sure those areas make up for the significant advancement Kochi made. Land pooling and scientific planning would be used to develop the infrastructure and other services in certain areas, according to mayor M. Anilkumar.
