Tamil Nadu Government Appoints B Jothi Nirmalasamy as State Election Commissioner

The Tamil Nadu government has nominated B Jothi Nirmalasamy, a seasoned IAS officer of the 2002 batch, as the new State Election Commissioner. This nomination comes as she steps into the role succeeding V Palaniswamy.

Currently serving as the Secretary in the Department of Commercial Taxes and Registration, B Jothi Nirmalasamy brings a wealth of experience to her new position. Her career has been marked by a commitment to public service, making her well-suited for the responsibilities ahead.

A notification issued by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, under the authority of Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena, formalized her appointment. According to the notification, she will hold the position of State Election Commissioner for a term of five years. Alternatively, her tenure will conclude upon reaching the age of 65, whichever comes first.
