UGC to formulate regulations to facilitate foreign universities to establish campuses in India

M Jagadesh Kumar, UGC Chairman on Wednesday said the University Grants Commission (UGC) is formulating regulation so as to facilitate foreign varsities to set up campuses in India. He further said at the India Education Summit 2022 that the draft regulation will be announced in the next two months.

Kumar said, “Recently, I have met a few ambassadors of various countries and many of them shown an interest to set up their campuses in India. We are also working on preparing a regulation to enable our India Institutes, whether they are state- funded universities, private universities, or central universities, to be able to go and open our own campuses abroad.”

Apart from the M Jagadesh Kumar, Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister, and Manish Sisodia, Delhi Education Minister were  present at the summit.
