In a move to support meritorious youth, the Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, launched the ‘Noble Initiative for Rewarding Mains Aspirants of National Civil Services Examination (NIRMAN)’ portal in New Delhi. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Mission Karmayogi’ and represents a unique Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme by Coal India Limited (CIL).
The scheme aims to provide financial support of Rs 1,00,000 to candidates who have qualified the Preliminary round of the UPSC examination (for Civil Services & Forest Service) in 2024. Eligible candidates must have an annual family income of less than 8 lakhs and belong to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, female, or third gender categories. Additionally, they must be permanent residents of any of the 39 operational districts of CIL.
The launch event saw the presence of Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, alongside other senior officials and CMDs of Coal Companies. G Kishan Reddy emphasized that the entire application process is conducted through a dedicated portal, ensuring full transparency and seamless screening, thus embodying the Digital India dream envisioned by Prime Minister.
Coal India Limited, a Maharatna Company, not only serves as the backbone of the country’s energy security but also plays a pivotal role as a Socially Responsible Corporate Entity. Through various initiatives, CIL and its subsidiaries are committed to fostering education in coal-bearing areas, supporting deserving and underprivileged students to secure admissions into nationally reputed professional institutes.
This initiative aims to contribute significantly towards achieving the goal of “Viksit Bharat” by “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas”, promoting inclusive development and progress.
