Universal Postal Union to Evaluate UPI Platform for Cross-Border Remittances Using Global Postal Network

New Delhi: The Universal Postal Union is set to evaluate the integration of the unified payment interface (UPI) with cross-border remittances using the global postal network.

During his visit to India for the inauguration of the UPU Regional Office, Director General Masahiko Metoki met with the Minister of Communications, Electronics, and IT- Ashwini Vaishnaw.

DG UPU commended India’s expansion of physical post offices leveraging digital infrastructure and endorsed the replication of similar models worldwide. He also agreed to evaluate the UPI platform for integrating it with cross-border money remittance through postal channels.

The release further highlights Minister Vaishnaw’s presentation on the transformation of post offices into a digitally powered network, offering doorstep delivery of government services in remote areas.
