Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, today launched the multilingual functionality on the e-Shram portal, making it accessible in all 22 Scheduled Languages of India. The milestone was achieved by leveraging the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) Bhashini project. Previously, the portal supported only English, Hindi, Kannada, and Marathi.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the government’s vision of making e-Shram a ‘One-Stop-Solution’ for unorganised workers. The portal facilitates seamless access to 12 social security schemes of the Government of India and records over 30,000 daily registrations by unorganised workers. He urged workers to register on the platform to benefit from various welfare schemes aimed at enhancing their livelihood and well-being.
To ensure wider outreach, Dr. Mandaviya announced plans to involve mediators such as Common Service Centres, Bank Correspondents, Post Offices, and MY Bharat volunteers in the registration process.
Ms. Sumita Dawra, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, highlighted ongoing efforts to integrate relevant state and central welfare schemes into the e-Shram portal. She also unveiled future initiatives, including the development of an e-Shram Mobile App, the introduction of a Single Common Application Form for user-friendly registration, and the integration of payment gateways to enhance access to social security benefits.
The registration of Building and Other Construction Workers (BoCW) and gig and platform workers on the portal continues on a mission mode, furthering the government’s commitment to social security.
