The Competent Authority has approved the appointment of IAS S Divyadharshini, a 2011-batch officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, Delhi. She will serve in this capacity under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years from the date she assumes charge or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
To facilitate a smooth transition, the order mandates that she be relieved of her current responsibilities immediately. In line with the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines, officers selected under the Central Staffing Scheme are required to join within three weeks of the Department of Personnel & Training’s (DoP&T) appointment order. Non-compliance with this directive may result in debarment from future Central postings.
Prior to this appointment, IAS Divyadharshini held key leadership positions in Tamil Nadu’s Rural Development sector. She served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project and the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission, along with being the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women. In these roles, she played a pivotal role in poverty alleviation programs, livelihood enhancement initiatives, and community development projects across the state.
A law graduate with a Master’s degree in Public Policy, IAS Divyadharshini has gained extensive experience in policy formulation and governance. Her administrative career encompasses a broad spectrum, including district administration, land management, urban development, and law and order enforcement.
Her tenure in the Rural Development Department of Tamil Nadu, spanning over two years, saw her making significant contributions toward strengthening rural economies and empowering communities. She actively worked on initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for underprivileged sections of society through sustainable development strategies.
