Ashok Singh Thakur to Lead INTACH as Chairman for the Next Three Years

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) successfully conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at its Head Office in New Delhi. As part of the proceedings, elections were held for the position of Chairman and Governing Council members. Following a transparent and structured process, Ashok Singh Thakur was elected as Chairman for a three-year term.

Established on January 27, 1984, INTACH is India’s leading heritage conservation organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting India’s vast cultural and natural heritage. Its mission extends to safeguarding the environment, revitalizing intangible heritage, and fostering public awareness and appreciation.

Beyond conservation, INTACH also serves as a cultural resource center, offering financial and technical expertise for heritage preservation and innovative cultural initiatives. The organization’s guiding principles are rooted in the INTACH Charter, adopted in 2004. Recognizing the dynamic nature of heritage, INTACH is currently revising the Charter to ensure a more interdisciplinary approach, integrating tangible, intangible, natural, and cultural dimensions into its conservation framework.
