The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed IAS officer Rakesh Kumar Singh (2009 batch) as the new CEO of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and the Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), according to an official notification.
Singh replaces Arun Vir Singh, who had been heading both bodies since August 17, 2015. With this appointment, Rakesh Kumar Singh will now oversee the development and timely execution of the Noida International Airport project in Jewar.
According to officials, Singh’s prior experience as additional CEO of YEIDA was a key factor in his selection for the top post. He has previously served as the District Magistrate of Ghaziabad and Kanpur. In Ghaziabad, he also held the position of Vice-Chairperson of the Ghaziabad Development Authority from 2021.
On January 30, 2024, Singh was transferred from Ghaziabad to Kanpur, where he served as DM before being appointed as Secretary to the Chief Minister.
His appointment comes at a crucial time as the Jewar airport project moves toward its construction deadlines. Officials said the new CEO’s key responsibility will be to ensure the timely completion of the airport without delays.
