IAS Alok Kumar-II and Veena Kumari Promoted as Additional Chief Secretaries in UP

Uttar Pradesh government has promoted two senior IAS officers—Alok Kumar-II and Veena Kumari—of the 1993 batch to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary, the highest position attainable for an IAS officer at the state level.

With this elevation, both officers have entered the Apex Scale (Level 17) of the Pay Matrix, marking a significant milestone in their careers.

Prior to the promotion, IAS Alok Kumar-II was serving as Principal Secretary across multiple critical departments, including Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) & Export Promotion, Infrastructure & Industrial Development, and the NRI Department. He has played a key role in shaping Uttar Pradesh’s industrial and export strategies.

IAS Veena Kumari, on the other hand, held the position of Principal Secretary in the Sugar Industries & Cane Development Department and the Excise Department. Her work has been instrumental in steering reforms in sugarcane pricing and excise management—both crucial sectors for the state’s rural economy and revenue generation.
