In a move aimed at tackling Bengaluru’s growing traffic congestion and rising commute times, ride-hailing platform Namma Yatri has introduced a new feature—Namma Transit—that brings metro, auto-rickshaw, and cab travel into a single navigation system.
The feature, currently available to a limited set of users, is expected to roll out to all users within a week, the company said on Friday.
Designed to streamline urban mobility, Namma Transit offers real-time, step-by-step navigation across multiple modes of transport. Commuters can receive live updates such as the nearest metro station, platform and gate details, and alerts on when to switch between different modes of transport.
The launch comes amid increasing traffic congestion in Bengaluru. According to recent reports, the average commute time in the city has increased by 16% over the past year. Residents now spend around 63 minutes to travel just 19 kilometers, highlighting the urgent need for smarter mobility solutions.
The feature is part of a larger effort to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity and reduce dependency on private vehicles. By improving accessibility and navigation in public transport systems, the initiative aims to encourage more citizens to opt for sustainable commuting options.
