Senior IAS officer Pratyaya Amrit has been appointed the next chief secretary of Bihar. A 1991-batch officer, Amrit is currently serving as the development commissioner and also holds additional charge as the additional chief secretary of the health and disaster management department.
The General Administration Department issued the official notification regarding his appointment on Monday. He has been posted as Officer on Special Duty in the office of the chief secretary with immediate effect. He will formally assume charge on September 1, following the retirement of incumbent chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena on August 31.
Meena, a 1989-batch IAS officer, is scheduled to retire from service at the end of this month.
A native of Muzaffarpur in north Bihar, Pratyaya Amrit is known for his administrative acumen and is considered a close aide of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Over the years, he has held several key positions in the state government and played a prominent role in implementing infrastructure and health-related initiatives.
