Days before the city’s Saras Mela begins, joint secretary of the Union rural Development ministry Charanjeet Singh said that the Central Government is developing an e-commerce platform to allow women-run self-help groups to market their goods throughout the nation and abroad.

The joint secretary announced that the ministry will hold daily sessions at the facility to teach self-help group members about branding on social media, financial management, packaging, and marketing.
The Saras Mela was founded in 1999 with the goal of empowering women financially. It has already taken place in Noida, Faridabad, and Delhi, and it will soon take place in Gurugra, according to Singh.
The national art and craft expo will open on October 7 at Leisure Valley Ground in Sector 29, with the goal of showcasing the talents of rural women artisans.
According to Singh, the government’s open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) programme would serve as the foundation for the e-commerce platform. The goal of ONDC is to make it simpler for smaller retailers and vendors to sell their goods online, just like the e-retail juggernauts do.
The government has partnered with seven major companies for the seminars who would contribute their knowledge and assist in upskilling the attendees, Singh Added.
There will be over 250 booths at the expo, which ends on October 23, run by artisans from 27 different states.
