In a significant stride towards bolstering healthcare infrastructure, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) Sub Zonal office and Central Drug Testing Laboratory (CDTL) in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

The newly inaugurated CDSCO Sub-Zonal office and CDTL are set to play a pivotal role in monitoring the quality of medicines. Dr. Mandaviya expressed his enthusiasm, stating that these facilities would ensure access to high-quality medicines for citizens while providing a business-friendly environment for stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the significance of the CDSCO Sub-Zonal office and CDTL in regulating drugs, cosmetics, and medical devices. These facilities, located at CDSCO Bhawan, Indore, are entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Acts and Rules to ensure patient safety and welfare.
The Central Drug Testing Laboratory boasts state-of-the-art equipment, including 12 High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLCs), 1 Gas Liquid Chromatography (GLC), 1 UV Spectrophotometer, and other instruments. The facility will rigorously test and analyze medicine samples, adhering to standard testing procedures.
In addition to these milestones, Dr. Mandaviya inaugurated six new health facilities at AIIMS Bhopal, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to establish AIIMS-like institutions in all states. These facilities include a Drone Station, Dexa Scan Suit, Gym Complex, Trauma & Emergency Operation Theatre Complex, Cobas 5800 System for Viral Load Assay (First Installation in India), and a Private Ward Complex with 16 fully furnished private rooms.
He emphasized the role of medical colleges in monitoring public health, stating that the One District One Medical College initiative aims to transform all districts into Ayushman districts, aligning with the principles of the new education policy inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings.
The Union Health Minister concluded by underlining the collective responsibility of medical colleges in achieving ambitious health goals, including the eradication of diseases like TB, Kala-azar, and leprosy by 2025.
The series of inaugurations and foundation stone laying events mark a significant leap forward in the healthcare landscape of Madhya Pradesh, promising enhanced accessibility and quality healthcare services for its residents.
