Tata Group to introduce its own UPI-based app

Tata Group is going to give stiff competition to some of the leading UPI based service providers including PhonePe, WhatsApp Pay, Google Pay, Paytm, and Amazon Pay by launching its own UPI-based app.

Tata Digital, the digital commerce wing of Tata Group is in talks with the private lender  ICICI Bank to power its own UPI-based digital payments platform in the country. The company is also in touch with another major private sector banking sector as an additional banking partner to power its digital payments platform.

Tata Group is seeking permission from the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI) to offer its own UPI-based digital payments service in India. According to the sources, the Tata Group is seeking permission from NPCI to function as Third-Party Application Payments Service provider offering digital payments services, which is planned to be launched in the next month.
