B. Sairam has officially appointed as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), effective Wednesday. With an impressive track record of 33 years in the coal sector, Sairam’s appointment brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to one of Coal India Limited’s main subsidiaries located in Singrauli.
A graduate in mining engineering from NIT Raipur, Sairam has traversed various facets of the coal industry, demonstrating expertise in mine operations, planning, logistics, and regulatory affairs. His commitment to excellence and innovation is not only evident in his professional endeavors but also in his academic pursuits.
Sairam’s dedication to learning led him to complete a rigorous 15-month full-time residential PGDM in Energy Management at NTPC School of Business Delhi. This program not only honed his skills but also provided a transformative experience with a 15-day immersion program at Nanyang Business School, Singapore, broadening his perspective on global energy dynamics.
Before assuming his new role at NCL, he held the position of Director (Technical) at Central Coalfields Limited in Ranchi. During his tenure, he played pivotal roles in driving the company’s organic growth. His initiatives included developing coal logistics, such as tripling the Tori-Shivpur Line to enhance coal dispatch to upcountry power consumers.
Additionally, he spearheaded the initiation of First Mile Connectivity projects like North Urimiri CHP-Silo, facilitated Forest & Environment Clearance processes, and oversaw the development of both greenfield and brownfield mines.
