Harish Kumar Gupta Designated as DGP for Andhra Pradesh

Harish Kumar Gupta, a seasoned 1992-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) for Andhra Pradesh. He succeeds IPS officer KV Rajendranath Reddy in this pivotal role.

Gupta’s selection emerged following a rigorous screening process, where he outshone two other distinguished candidates. Among the contenders were Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, the Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), and Madireddy Pratap, another notable IPS officer.

Prior to his elevation as the DGP, Gupta held crucial positions within the state’s administrative framework. Notably, he served as the Principal Secretary of the Home Department in the Government of Andhra Pradesh, demonstrating his adeptness in handling law enforcement and security affairs. He has also served as the Principal Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
