Alibaba, the Chinese technology giant, launched an artificial intelligence tool, Tongyi Wanxiang, which can generate images from prompts. This AI tool generates images in various styles such as a sketch or 3D cartoon, based on prompts in Chinese and English.
Tongyi Wanxiang is currently available for beta testing for enterprise customers in China. This new offering from Alibaba is part of the generative AI trend, in which AI-based technology is trained on heaps of data and used to create content based on prompts. ‘With the release of Tongyi Wanxiang, high- quality generative AI imagery will become more accessible, facilitating the development of innovative AI art and creative expressions for businesses across a wide range of sectors, including e-commerce, gaming, design and advertising,’ Jingren Zhou, CTO of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said in a press release.
Google and Baidu have already released their own AI products, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT has encouraged other major tech companies to develop similar products.
Alibaba’s Tongyi Wanxiang will make high-quality generative AI imagery more accessible to enterprises, with applications in sectors such as e-commerce, gaming, design, and advertising. Alibaba is focusing on enterprises while positioning Tongyi Wanxiang as a tool for innovative AI art and creative expressions.
