The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) has selected Amitava Mukherjee as the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NMDC Limited, a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU). Mukherjee’s appointment is subject to requisite clearances and the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Currently, Mukherjee is serving as the Chairman cum Managing Director (Additional Charge) and Director (Finance) at NMDC Limited. He has been managing the dual responsibilities since January 31, 2023, following the superannuation of former CMD Sumit Deb.
The selection process involved interviews of nine candidates, showcasing Mukherjee’s qualifications and leadership acumen as he emerged as the top choice for the position.
NMDC, India’s largest iron ore producer, has been functioning under an ad-hoc arrangement for the CMD position since Deb’s retirement. Mukherjee’s extensive experience and proven expertise in corporate finance and management make him a fitting candidate to lead the organization into its next phase of growth.
