Arvindar Singh Sahney Appointed Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation Limited

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has announced the appointment of Arvindar Singh Sahney as the new Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). The position, vacant since August 31, 2024, following the completion of Shrikant Madhav Vaidya’s extended tenure, has now been filled with Sahney’s elevation from Executive Director (Petrochemicals) at IOCL and Designate-Director (Planning & Business Development).

This appointment marks a significant milestone for IOCL, India’s largest PSU in the oil and gas sector, which has been without a full-time head for the past 15 months. Vaidya’s tenure was notably extended by 12 months beyond the conventional retirement age of 60, setting a rare precedent in the sector. Following his departure, Director (Marketing) V. Satish Kumar held additional charge as Chairman for three months.

Arvindar Singh Sahney’s selection reflects his extensive experience and strategic acumen in driving the corporation’s growth in key areas, particularly petrochemicals and business development. With his appointment, IOCL aims to strengthen its leadership and steer the organization toward achieving its vision of sustainable energy solutions and innovation-driven growth.
