Visakhapatnam: Taking a significant step towards supporting education, Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has distributed free kits to more than 43 lakh students under the ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ scheme in Palnadu district.
On June 12th, the distribution of school kits took place in Krosuru village. This distribution was a part of the ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ scheme. These kits, which are valued at Rs 1,043 crore, are intended for students who attend government and aided schools.
The kits for students contain important educational materials, such as bilingual textbooks, notebooks, workbooks, uniforms (three pairs), shoes (one pair), socks (two pairs), a belt, a school bag, an English-Telugu dictionary (for students in sixth to tenth standards), and a pictorial dictionary (for students in first to fifth standards).
At a public meeting, Chief Minister Reddy expressed his delight in providing these kits to students before the academic year begins. He stressed that the government is dedicated to ensuring that no child or their parents face difficulties in procuring necessary items like books and uniforms. The ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ program has been successfully implemented for the fourth consecutive year, demonstrating the government’s commitment to supporting students.
Addressing a public meeting, Reddy announced that the government will be providing kits to all those children, who need them. This marks the fourth consecutive year of the implementation of ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’, which aims to ensure that all students receive necessary items like books and uniforms without any hassle.
Additionally, bilingual textbooks will be provided to aid students in better understanding their lessons. These textbooks will feature English content and its translated Telugu version on opposite pages to facilitate easy navigation, comparison, observation, and mental absorption.
The Chief Minister has recently revealed that the southern state has allocated a total of Rs 3,367 crore towards the ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ scheme. The state spent Rs 648 crore for the year 2020-21, Rs 789 crore for the current year (2021-22), Rs 887 crore for the upcoming year (2022-23), and Rs 1,043 crore for the year after that (2023-24).
The government of Andhra Pradesh has launched the ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ program to help students overcome financial difficulties and ensure that everyone has equal opportunities for education. By providing these kits, the government is making sure that students have all the essential tools they need to start their academic journey with confidence and success.
