In a significant development for the education sector in Assam, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced on Wednesday that the Government of Assam has released a recruitment advertisement for a staggering 14,223 school teacher positions across the state. The announcement, made through a series of posts on social media platform X, outlined the details of the recruitment drive.
According to Pegu, the Directorate of Secondary Education has published the advertisement for 1,424 post-graduate teacher positions and 7,249 graduate teacher positions. The graduate teacher recruitment will encompass various streams, including arts, science, Hindi, and Sanskrit, specifically for provincialized secondary schools.
Explaining the provincialization process, officials clarified that it involves the government assuming all liabilities of a non-government school, originally established to provide education for the benefit of society. This includes the responsibility for the payment of salaries and other benefits to teachers.
In addition to the secondary education recruitment, Education Minister highlighted that the Directorate of Elementary Education has also released an advertisement for the recruitment of 3,800 Assistant Teachers for Lower Primary (LP) Schools. Furthermore, advertisements for 1,750 posts of Assistant Teachers, Science Teachers, and Hindi Teachers for Upper Primary (UP) Schools have been published in various newspapers.
Reacting to the expansive recruitment drive, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed optimism and stated, ‘Today, our government has released vacancies for over 10,000 posts in the education department. We will not only deliver but exceed our promise of creating more than 1 lakh government jobs in the most transparent manner in Assam’s history.’
This move is expected to provide a significant boost to the education sector in Assam, addressing the need for qualified teachers and fulfilling the government’s commitment to job creation and transparency.
