Assam Government Ink 7 MoUs With Top MNCs

The Assam Government on Oct 19 inked 7 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with top Multinational Corporations (MNCs) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati.

Referring the same as a “momentous occasion”, the Assam CM noted that the initiative will realize the dream of a developed Assam in line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister – Narendra Modi to transform Northeast into a ‘New Growth Engine’ to power Atmanirbhar Bharat.

“These effort will harness the state’s potential in renewable energy, Skill development, tourism and hospitality sector,” – asserted the CM.

As per reports, the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) signed separate MoUs with Microsoft, Google, Larsen & Toubro, Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC).

Similarly, the MoUs were execute between the Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training (DECT) & Info Edge, better known as Naukri.com.

The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has inked a pact with the Tata STRIVE; Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) and SGEL – a subsidiary of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN).

In order to revamp the tourism and hospitality sector in Assam, the Assam Tourism Development Corporation Limited (ATDCL), the Indian Hotels Company Limited, Tata STRIVE’s Skill Development Initiative of Tata Community Initiative Trust (TCIT), the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) have agreed to put concerted efforts to set-up a state-of-the-art residential training facility at the Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change & Development (OKD Institute) located near Guwahati.

In this regard, an MoU was signed in presence of the Assam CM – Himanta Biswa Sarma and State Tourism Minister – Jayanta Malla Baruah.

This partnership aims to conduct employment-linked skills training in multiple domains along the hospitality sector.

Meanwhile, the state government has also signed an MoU with Google to support and accelerate the Government of Assam’s mission to promote digital growth and development in the state.
Under this new initiative, Google will aim to reinforce the school digitization efforts by adding new digital learning tools and solutions to help teaching and learning.

Google will also offer scholarships for Google Career Certificates to Assam’s youth in collaboration with the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM). It will also wrap-around training to make youth job-ready for the digital market.

According to the MoU, Google will help in empowering schools with digital education through Google for Education’s collaborative tools.

The program will support qualified applicants to pursue Google Career Certificates in high-demand fields like IT Support, IT Automation, Project Management, Data Analytics, UX Design Digital Marketing & eCommerce.
