Central Electronics Limited (CEL) has been granted the prestigious ‘Mini RATNA’ status (Category-1) as announced by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh during the Golden Jubilee celebration at the CEL campus in Ghaziabad. The event commemorated 50 years of CEL’s dedicated service to the nation.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, who serves as the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, MoS PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, praised CEL for its remarkable journey of excellence. He highlighted CEL’s transformation over the last few years, noting its financial stability, profitability, and operational excellence.
The celebration was graced by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, whose presence was described by Dr. Singh as a source of motivation for CEL to further contribute to the nation’s progress. Dr. Singh lauded CEL’s turnaround from a loss-making public sector unit (PSU) to a dividend-paying entity, paying dividends for the third consecutive year. The company achieved a net profit of approximately Rs 58 crore in the last financial year.
Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Amrit Kaal,’ Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of indigenizing technology and boosting manufacturing through capacity building and skill development. He acknowledged CEL’s significant contributions in the fields of Defence, Railway, Security, Surveillance, and Solar Energy, underscoring its vital role in promoting indigenous technologies and manufacturing capabilities. He also noted CEL’s initiative to produce Smart Boards, which will enhance the implementation of smart education in schools across the country.
Dr. Singh expressed satisfaction with the new initiatives taken by CEL Management to strengthen employee engagement, which has led to outstanding performance and an all-time high achievement in the last financial year. He affirmed that CEL has met all performance parameters required for the higher status of Mini RATNA (Category-1).
The event was also attended by Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma, Cabinet Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR); Shri Chetan Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of CEL, along with senior officials from the Government of India.
