The COVID-19 working group of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) is scheduled to meet today and decide further steps to be taken in the country’s effort to tackle the pandemic. The group will also be analyzing the interim data provided by CMC Vellore and then deciding the need for booster shots. The data provided is also under review by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization.
Once the CDSCO has reviewed the data, it will be forwarded to the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) under the drug regulator.
Winsley Rose who is a principal investigator of the study has earlier informed that CMC Vellore had reached out to the office of the drug regulator to share the preliminary result of the study on the possibility of mixing Covaxin and Covishield. The study was basically done to find out how a person inoculated with either Covishield or Covaxin responds to a booster dose of the other one.
