New Delhi: During a conversation with the Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, the discussion centered on improving collaboration between the defence sectors of the two nations and strengthening maritime security.
On June 19, 2023, the Minister of Defence of India, Rajnath Singh, engaged in discussions with the Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, General Phan Van Gang, in New Delhi. The meeting entailed a review of the progress made in various bilateral defence cooperation initiatives, and both parties expressed contentment with the current engagements.
Both Ministers discussed ways to improve current areas of cooperation, particularly in the defence industry, maritime security, and multinational collaboration. The Raksha Mantri also revealed the gifting of the domestically produced Missile Corvette INS Kirpan, which will significantly enhance the Vietnam People’s Navy’s capabilities. This announcement marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the two countries.
During his official duties, the Defence Minister of Vietnam visited the DRDO headquarters to explore opportunities for collaboration in defence research and joint production. The discussions focused on strategies to improve defence industrial capabilities through cooperation.
Earlier today, General Phan Van Gang paid his respects to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. The esteemed guest arrived in India on June 18th for a two-day visit. Vietnam holds a significant role as a partner in India’s Act East Policy and in the Indo-Pacific region.
