To enhance education accessibility and quality, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme on February 6th, 2024, at an event held in New Delhi. The initiative, in line with the National Education Policy 2020, emphasizes a comprehensive approach towards empowering students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Pradhan highlighted the significance of the Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme, underscoring its role in providing access and opportunities for quality education to students who face financial constraints. Notably, the programme targets students from Navodaya Vidyalayas, acknowledging their academic merit and potential for higher education.

During the event, Minister Pradhan lauded the achievements of Navodaya Vidyalaya students, noting that nearly 14,000 students have secured admissions to prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs without resorting to external coaching centers. He also acknowledged the philanthropic efforts of corporate sponsors, emphasizing their role in supporting academically gifted students from marginalized backgrounds.

The launch event witnessed the exchange of significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between corporate sponsors, including Fiat India, HDFC Bank Limited, ClearMedi Healthcare, Bharat Forge  and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. These collaborations exemplify the synergy between the government and private sectors towards advancing education and nation-building efforts.

A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the innovative Vidyanjali Fintech Platform/portal, designed to streamline scholarship disbursement and facilitate student engagement. Additionally, Minister Pradhan personally presented scholarship letters to six meritorious Navodaya Vidyalaya students, underscoring the tangible impact of the initiative.
