Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman has officially assumed charge as the CEO of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), succeeding Professor Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), who was acting as interim CEO.
ANRF, established to promote research and development across India’s universities, colleges, research institutions, and R&D laboratories, aims to foster a robust culture of research and innovation. The foundation serves as an apex body providing high-level strategic direction for scientific research, aligning with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP).
Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, previously the CTO for the Energy Industry, Asia at Microsoft, brings extensive experience to the role. A Distinguished Alumnus Awardee of IIT Madras and Ohio State University (2021), he is a Fellow of the IEEE (2010) and the Indian National Academy of Engineering (2015), an ACM Distinguished Scientist (2010), a Microsoft Gold Club Member (2024), and was recognized as a Technology Review TR100 young innovator (1999).
