The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has taken significant steps to bolster its medical and engineering workforce, enhancing healthcare and infrastructure services for insured persons and their families. Over the past two months, ESIC has approved the recruitment of 1,221 doctors across various medical cadres. This includes 860 General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs), 330 Assistant Professors, and 31 Specialists, aimed at strengthening the medical staff in ESIC’s vast network of hospitals and dispensaries.
In addition to the medical recruitments, ESIC has also focused on expanding its nursing and engineering cadres. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has conducted examinations to fill 1,930 vacancies in the Nursing Cadre, with the recruitment process expected to conclude soon. Furthermore, ESIC has finalized the recruitment of 20 Junior Engineers (Electrical) and 57 Junior Engineers (Civil), with appointment letters issued this month based on UPSC’s recommendations.
These recruitment efforts are part of ESIC’s ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive social security benefits, including cash and medical facilities, under the Employees’ State Insurance Act of 1948. The scheme, under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, aims to deliver quality healthcare and support to insured individuals and their dependents through a robust network of ESI Hospitals and Dispensaries across the country.
