Flipkart enters Health tech by acquiring SastaSunadar

The e-commerce giant, Flipkart has acquired a majority stake in the online pharmacy SastaSundar Market to launch its own healthcare business in the health tech industry of India. The new entity is named Flipkart Health+ will provide people access to quality and affordable healthcare, first through an e-pharmacy and later through e-diagnostics and e-consultation.

Senior vice president and head of corporate development at Flipkart, Ravi Iyer said that as health awareness has heightened, there is a huge opportunity and demand for low-cost healthcare services and ancillary offerings. The synergies between Flipkart Group and SastaSundar will play a vital role in transforming online healthcare in India.

BL Mittal, the founder of SastaSundar said that at SastaSundar, they emphasize creating innovative ways to provide access to affordable healthcare easily and hassle-free, building a trusted network for authentic medicines, diagnostics, and wellness. Commenting on the partnership with Flipkart, he said that this partnership will provide an excellent opportunity to further grow and reach a larger consumer base, through complementary technologies and logistics infrastructure.
