Government plans to develop super app for farmers

An official at the ministry of agriculture and farmers’ welfare said the government is planning to design and develop a super app for farmers, combining multiple digital entities and existing applications made for them.

The consolidation of digital entities and existing applications will facilitate the farmers to access information including the latest research and development, services offered, weather and market updates, government schemes, and advisories for different agro-climatic zones under one umbrella. The super app will be very beneficial in educating farmers on crop production and technologies as well as post0harvest issues including marketing.

The ministry is planning to combine various apps including Pusa Krishi, Kisan Suvidha, MKisan, Farm-o-pedia, Shetkari Masik Android App, Iffco Kisan, Crop InsuranceAndroid App, ICAR’s Krishi Gyan, and AgriMarket. The official said, “The compilation of different apps under a super app at one place will help the farmers in choosing from a bouquet of services as per their requirement.”
