Himanshu Gupta Appointed as DIG in Indo-Tibetan Border Police

Himanshu Gupta, a 2010-batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). His tenure will last for five years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, according to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The ITBP, a central armed police force under the MHA, plays a crucial role in securing India’s border with Tibet. Established in the wake of the 1962 Sino-Indian War, the force is tasked with ensuring national security and operational readiness in the challenging Himalayan terrain.

Gupta’s appointment is expected to bolster ITBP’s operational effectiveness along the critical border areas.
