India to get first Universal ID genomic test

The Mumbai-based health-tech startup, HaystackAnalytics claims to develop India’s first Universal Infectious Disease genomic test. The test incorporates Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology to identify existing and emerging infections. It also offers an information related to drug resistance required to determine the right treatment option for the effective and quick recovery of a patient.

The health-tech company said that the Universal ID test is a single test solution for the accurate and timely diagnosis of contagious diseases. It will be made available in the next three months in partnership with various hospitals and diagnostic centers across the country. Initially, it has targeted at ICU patients in these healthcare establishments.

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India has supported HaystackAnalytics as it believes we must benefit from the evolving technology. The company is planning to make Universal ID tests for over 100 hospitals in six months. Later, the company is also eyeing to cover the global market so that the healthcare industry can take benefit of this technology.
