M. Lata Gautam has assumed the position of Director (Employment) at the Directorate General of Employment (DGE), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. With over 30 years of distinguished service in Group ‘A’ level posts under the Government of India, Mrs. Gautam brings extensive expertise and leadership to her new role.
A seasoned government professional, she has held several key positions throughout her career. Prior to her appointment as Director of Employment, she served as Assistant Director, Deputy Director, and Joint Director at the National Institute for Career Services (NICS) under the Ministry of Labour & Employment. Her commitment to public service was further recognized when she was appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to former Minister of Labour and Employment, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, who is currently the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana.
Apart from her government assignments, Gautam has actively contributed to various social and entrepreneurial initiatives. She serves as the Co-Chairperson of the National Alliance for Young Entrepreneurs (NAYE) and as the Chairperson of Sanjeevni Welfare Samiti, a registered NGO dedicated to social welfare. Additionally, she has been an advisor to the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Allahabad, and the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DICCI).
With a background in rehabilitation psychology, Gautam is also associated with the Rehabilitation Council of India under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. Her involvement in the UPSC as a member of departmental selection committees further highlights her expertise in recruitment and employment policies.
