The Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed IPS Madhup Kumar Tiwari, a seasoned officer of the 1995 batch AGMUT cadre, as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Chandigarh, succeeding IPS officer Praveer Ranjan.
Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Madhup Tiwari has carved a distinguished career path marked by various significant appointments across diverse domains. Prior to his new assignment, he served as the Special CP, Law and Order in Delhi, showcasing commendable leadership in managing critical situations. His tenure as the Deputy Inspector General in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) further honed his investigative skills and administrative acumen.
Beyond his national roles, Madhup Tiwari has also demonstrated his capabilities on the international stage, having served as a Civilian Police Officer in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, contributing to global peacekeeping efforts.
Tiwari’s educational background is equally impressive, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur. He has also pursued a PGDPM (Diploma) in Police Management from Osmania University, reflecting his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
