The Meghalaya government has inked an agreement with the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) for setting up the PA Sangma Fellowship for legal and policy research. As per the agreement, the NLSIU students will be allowed to undertake various research activities in Meghalaya.

The collaboration will be very beneficial for the students as it will help them gain experience in the current challenges of law and policy. Moreover, it will provide capacity-building programs and training for law officers and other government department officials.
Law Minister James PK Sangma said, “This will be an excellent learning experience for the students because the transition they would have made from the classroom environment to understanding the ground realities of law and policy in implementation is something which is imperative.”
Sudhir Krishnaswamy, vice-chancellor, NLSIU put emphasis on the need for providing better exposure to students, which will encourage them to gain a practical experience for the future.
