New micro enterprises set up in FY21 rise by 11% from previous year- PMEGP

Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), a central government scheme that has encouraged entrepreneurship and generated employment through financial assistance to individuals has facilitated 74,415 new micro-enterprises in FY21. Data by the Minister of State for MSME, Bhanu Pratap Singh has revealed that around 5,95,320 employment opportunities have been created through these new enterprises.

PMEGP provides maximum assistant of Rs 25 lakh for setting up new manufacturing units and Rs 10 lakh for new service units.

New enterprises set up in FY21 have increased by 11 percent. The employment generated under PMEGP scheme in FY21 also witnessed a growth in comparison to 5,33,224 jobs generated in FY20 and 5,87,416 in FY19. MSME Minister, Narayan Rane said that the significant rise in new set ups and jobs opportunities created in FY21 is the best performance under PMEGP since its inception in 2008-09.
