Meta Launches Threads in 100 Countries, Receives 5 mn Downloads in 4 Hours

Meta has launched a new text-based conversation app called Threads. This app has already gained a remarkable number of 5 million sign-ups in the first four hours of its release. Threads is designed to be interoperable with networks, which makes it different from other similar apps.

Users can sign into Threads through their Instagram account, though with the ability to customize their profile exclusively for Threads. This app is available in 100 countries, including India, and is compatible with Android and iOS platforms.

It supports the Hindi language and is available globally on Android and Apple platforms. A major contender for India-based Twitter rival, Koo, Threads offers posts of up to 500 characters, with the ability to include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes long.

Safety and user controls are installed to keep everyone safe, with users under 16 automatically put into a private profile when they sign in. Meta is pursuing to make Threads compatible with Activity Pub to allow more connections among social apps.

This innovative approach to social networking has made Threads a serious contender to Twitter and other major social media platforms.

Celebrities such as Shakira and Gordon Ramsay have already shown their interest in the trendy Threads.
