Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a prominent Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) operating under the Ministry of Coal, has recently announced the appointment of Nilendu Kumar Singh as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). The decision was made following a recommendation from the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), which conducted thorough interviews with a panel of candidates.
Mr. Nilendu Kumar Singh, currently serving as the Director (Technical) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), emerged as the chosen candidate for the prestigious position.
The selection process involved evaluating a pool of ten highly qualified candidates, all of whom underwent rigorous assessments by the PESB panel. Among these candidates, three hailed from Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), three from CMPDIL, two from CCL, and one each from Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL).
A distinguished alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, Mr. Singh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (B. Tech). He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position, having served in various capacities within the coal sector.
Prior to his appointment as the Director (Technical) of ECL in December 2022, Mr. Singh held key positions including Mines Manager at Gevra, Sub Area Manager (Agent) at Dipka & Chhal project, and Area General Manager at Dipka Area, Korba Area & Raigarh Area of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).
