Nitin Gadkari Sanctions Varied Amount for Multiple National Highway Projects

In a series of significant developments aimed at enhancing connectivity and infrastructure across various states in India, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has approved several projects totaling in crores for the betterment of national highways. Here are the highlights of the recent announcements:

  1. Rs. 494.45 Crore for upgradation of Kashipur to Ramnagar Section in Uttarakhand

Nitin Gadkari has sanctioned Rs. 494.45 crore for the upgradation of the Kashipur to Ramnagar section of National Highway 121 (New 309) in Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand. This project aims to enhance connectivity to the popular Jim Corbett National Park, benefiting traffic from Moradabad and Rampur to Delhi/Lucknow. The upgrade is expected to boost economic activities in the area and increase road safety while reducing travel time.

  1. Rs. 626.01 Crore for National Highway 150A in Karnataka, spanning 13.087 Km across Bellary and Ananthpur districts

In Karnataka, an allocation of Rs. 626.01 crore has been sanctioned for the completion of the 4-laning of the Bellary Bypass, covering the Bellary to Byrapur Section of National Highway 150A across Bellary and Ananthpur districts. This initiative targets the reduction of traffic congestion in Bellary town, thus improving road safety. Additionally, a 28 km bypass on the southern side is already underway as part of the broader Hospet to Bellary project.

  1. Rs. 1346.81 Crore for National Highway Development in Andhra Pradesh

An allocation of Rs. 1346.81 crore has been approved for the expansion of the existing 2-lane paved shoulder from the Tamil Nadu/Andhra Pradesh border to Puttur (20.03 km) on National Highway-716. This project aims to upgrade it to a 4-lane configuration with paved shoulders. Furthermore, the widening of the existing 4-lane paved shoulder from Mallavaram junction to Renigunta junction (17.40 km) on NH-71 to a 6-lane paved shoulder is set to take place in the districts of Chittor and Tirupati under Package-2, utilizing the HAM mode. This development is expected to transform the specified stretch into a fully access-controlled corridor, connecting Tiruthani and Tirupathi.

  1. Rs. 374.17 Crore for National Highway Projects in Odisha

For Odisha, an allocation of Rs. 374.17 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a 3.5 km long 6-lane flyover at Ainthapalli junction and a 2-lane ROB (LHS) on NH-53 (formerly NH-6) in the Sambalpur district. This project aims to alleviate heavy traffic congestion at Ainthapali Chowk, with the additional construction of a 2-lane ROB previously excluded from the Teleibani-Sambalpur 4-laning project on NH-53.

  1. Rs. 224.44 Crore for construction of Shopian Bypass in Jammu & Kashmir

In Jammu & Kashmir, an allocation of Rs. 224.44 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the Shopian Bypass on National Highway-444, converting it into a 2-lane configuration with a paved shoulder spanning 8.925 km in the Shopian district. This development is crucial for linking Shopian District with Pulwama and Kulgam, benefiting apple growers in South Kashmir by facilitating transportation of produce to markets. The project aims to improve connectivity and road safety in the region.

  1. Rs. 6621.62 Crore for the construction of National Highway-913 in Arunachal Pradesh

Nitin Gadkari has approved an allocation of Rs. 6621.62 crore for the construction of eight packages on National Highway-913, designated as the Frontier Highway in Arunachal Pradesh. This project includes various sections covering a total length of 265.49 km. The development aims to enhance connectivity to border areas, fostering socio-economic growth and curbing migration. These highway stretches also play a vital role in establishing essential road infrastructure connecting significant river basins, facilitating the development of numerous Hydropower projects within the state.

  1. Rs. 292.65 Crore for Four-laning of Tower Chowk to Basukinath Section in Jharkhand

Lastly, an approval of Rs. 292.65 crore under the HAS mode has been granted for the Four-laning of Tower Chowk to Basukinath section of National Highway 114A in Dumka district, Jharkhand. This project is crucial for facilitating transportation to important religious places like Deoghar and Basukinath. Upgrading the existing 2-lane roads to four lanes is expected to reduce congestion, particularly during the Shravani Mela, and contribute to the social and economic development of the area.
