Pre-Budget Consultations for Union Budget 2025-26 Conclude; Citizen Suggestions Invited on MyGov

The Pre-Budget consultations for the upcoming Union Budget 2025-26, chaired by Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, successfully concluded in New Delhi. The consultations spanned over a month, commencing on December 6, 2024, and involved in-person discussions with over 100 stakeholders across nine diverse groups.

Participants included experts and representatives from various sectors such as farmer associations, trade unions, education and health, MSMEs, trade and services, industry, economists, financial and capital markets, and the infrastructure, energy, and urban sectors.

Prominent attendees included Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary; Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey; Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs Shri Ajay Seth; Secretary, Department of Financial Services M. Nagaraju; Chief Economic Adviser Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran; and other senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and relevant ministries.

Key Highlights of the Consultations

During the discussions, Sitharaman expressed gratitude to participants for their valuable insights. She assured that their suggestions would be carefully examined and considered in the preparation of the Union Budget 2025-26, which aims to support inclusive growth and strengthen India’s economy.

Citizen Participation Through MyGov Platform

Beginning January 10, 2025, citizens across the country are invited to contribute their suggestions and ideas for the Union Budget 2025-26 via the MyGov platform. This initiative, part of the government’s Jan Bhagidari approach, seeks to make the Budget-making process more participatory and inclusive.

To submit suggestions, citizens can visit the MyGov website at www.mygov.in. The Ministry of Finance and MyGov eagerly await innovative and constructive ideas that can help shape policies for a Viksit Bharat.
