The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Ajit Ratnakar Joshi as Executive Director (ED). In his new role, Joshi will oversee the Department of Statistics and Information Management and the Financial Stability Department, the central bank announced on Wednesday.
Prior to his promotion, Joshi served as Principal Adviser in the Department of Statistics and Information Management. He brings over three decades of experience in statistics, information technology, and cyber risk management. His expertise spans macroeconomic statistics, policy formulation, and financial system analysis.
Joshi has also been a faculty member at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad. Additionally, he has contributed to various committees and working groups focused on macroeconomic statistics and policy issues.
A distinguished academic, Joshi holds a Master’s degree in Statistics from Nagpur University and a Ph.D. in Monetary Economics from IIT Madras. He has also earned a Diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, and is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
