Senior IPS Officer Anand Swaroop Takes Charge of Internal Security at MHA

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Anand Swaroop (IPS: 1992: UP) as the new Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Swaroop, who was serving as Director General (Investigation) at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), replaces Praveen Vashista (IPS: 1991: BH).

A senior IPS officer with extensive experience in policing, investigation and internal security, Swaroop will serve in the post until his superannuation on August 31, 2029.

His appointment comes at a crucial time for the Home Ministry as it continues to strengthen internal security coordination and law enforcement frameworks across the country.
