In a significant step toward streamlining the Government of India’s digital presence, Union Minister Jitin Prasada unveiled the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) at a launch event in New Delhi. The event also marked the commencement of the first-ever CIO Conference 2025, organized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The launch was attended by key officials, including S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY; SSanket S Bhondve, Joint Secretary, MeitY; IPS Sethi, Director General, National Informatics Centre (NIC); and Alka Misra, Deputy Director General, NIC.
The DBIM aims to bring uniformity across all government websites and digital platforms by providing comprehensive guidelines for visual, textual, and user experience elements. This initiative is part of the broader effort to make government services more accessible, user-friendly, and compliant with the latest digital standards. Powered by Bhashini’s multilingual support, this toolkit makes government applications more accessible, compliant, and user-friendly in all official languages, simplifying content discovery and service access for all.
Enabling a Harmonized Digital Footprint: The Digital Brand Identity Manual serves as a toolkit to ensure consistency in design, navigation, and content presentation across various government applications. It focuses on enhancing the citizen experience by introducing standardized layouts, fonts, color schemes, and accessibility features.
At the launch of DBIM & the 1st CIO Conference, MoS Jitin Prasada emphasised that while implementation of DBIM, it should be ensured that the access to govt’s digital assets is people-centric, simplified & standardised.
MoS Jitin Prasada added that as emphasised by Hon’ble PM, the focus is to bring ease of access to tech to the last mile. The access has to be smooth, uniform and impactful, keeping in mind the cultural diversity & digital literacy.
The principles under the Digital India – of accessibility & equitability – have to be reinforced, said MoS Jitin Prasada and noted that the initiatives are the examples of inclusive growth, bottoms-up approach & citizens’ empowerment.
Addressing the CIOs, he stressed that there is a need to be agile and innovative by leveraging advanced technologies. “A digitally empowered Bharat is the key to achieving a Viksit Bharat as envisioned by Hon’ble PM,” he said.
Sharing the importance of DBIM, S Krishnan, Secretary MeitY, said there must be a common interface across websites, ensuring the user experience is enhanced & inclusive.

The Secretary MEITY added that the Govt needs to speak in people’s language on our digital assets, be it websites, apps or social media. They need to ensure that the service delivery is done in efficiently. Calling it an ambitious program, the Secretary MEITY noted that the Govt recognises the important role of NIC in implementing DBIM.
We have to ensure it is in step with today’s digital environment, re-energised and re-engineered, he added.
Calling it a transformational effort under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi, Sanket Bhondv , JS, MeitY noted that DBIM will be a fundamental asset in India’s eGovernance journey, committed to the economic growth & citizen empowerment.
Expressing pleasure over India having its own email, App Store, intranet, browser, single sign-on, gov drive, & more, JS Bhondve said that DBIM & all its components will harmonise the digital presence of the Govt on all platforms, bringing ease of living and ease of governance.
Addressing the CIOs, JS Bhondve stressed that CIOs are strategic enablers, enhancing efficiency & service delivery in India. “They will be at the forefront of providing a seamless digital experience to the citizens, making India’s online presence engaging & inclusive.
