Chandigarh Administration launched 86 e-services to digitize citizen-centric services

Banwarilal Purohit, UT Administrator launched e-services for various allied departments of the Chandigarh administration. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, Chandigarh and Dharampal, Adviser to the Administrator at Hotel Mountview were also present at the launch.

The 86 e-services introduced by the Chandigarh administration include 23 of the excise and taxation department, 17 of the transport department, 8 eight of the Chandigarh Housing Board, 22 Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), and 5 non-DBT services, and 5 each of the Estate Office and labour department.

Addressing the event, Purohit said, “I strongly believe that transparency, efficiency, and time management is a key to good work. The launch of 86 e-services is a significant step toward eliminating all anomalies and making the processes hassle-free so that citizens could avail themselves of services seamlessly.”

Dharam Pal said, “In this digital era, we have an excellent opportunity to transform people’s lives. With this launch, we aim at improving the lives of the citizens and to ensure that important government services are available online.”

Chandigarh is the first Union Territory among UT’s/States that has achieved the target of on-boarding the DBT Schemes on Service Plus Portal and ‘UMANG App. The UT has also onboarded 27 welfare schemes on the Service Plus portal and UMANG App to ensure instant payment directly to the beneficiary’s account.
