As part of its ongoing commitment to the Digital India vision, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the third phase of its capacity-building initiatives. These programs are designed to enhance the skills of government officials in critical areas such as Digital Public Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML), Digital Governance, and Data Management.
The second regional programme of this phase, focusing on ‘Contract and Procurement Management,’ was inaugurated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on September 26, 2024. Organized by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) in partnership with the National Institute for Smart Governance (NISG), this initiative aims to equip officials from Central Line Ministries and Western states with essential procurement skills. A total of 28 participants are partaking in this immersive training experience.
This programme is a key element of NeGD’s broader Capacity Building Scheme, which seeks to fortify the public sector’s ability to manage complex digital transformation projects. The training is designed to blend theoretical frameworks with practical, case-based learning, providing participants with hands-on knowledge to overcome challenges in procurement and contract execution.
Experts from the industry are contributing their insights to guide officials through real-world scenarios, helping them better navigate procurement intricacies within their respective departments. The programme is expected to empower officers with enhanced decision-making skills, thus facilitating more efficient management of government contracts and procurement processes.
This initiative is a step toward the government’s mission of building a digitally empowered nation through upskilled personnel and efficient governance structures. The series of programmes will continue to be rolled out across India, benefitting officials at both the Central and State levels.
