Nayab Singh Saini was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana for a second consecutive term in a grand ceremony held today. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administered the oath of office to CM designate Saini and his new cabinet members. The swearing-in event was attended by several prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP chief ministers such as Mohan Yadav from Madhya Pradesh and Yogi Adityanath from Uttar Pradesh.
Alongside Saini, BJP MLAs Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Panwar, Rao Narbir Singh, Mahipal Dhanda, Vipul Goel, Shruti Choudhry, and Aarti Singh Rao were sworn in as ministers in the newly formed cabinet. This marks a significant moment in Haryana politics, with Saini once again taking the helm.
Earlier this week, Saini staked claim to form the next government after being unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party. His name was proposed by MLA Krishan Kumar Bedi and seconded by senior BJP leader Anil Vij, who had also shown interest in the top position. The meeting, presided over by Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav as central observers, was attended by key leaders such as Union ministers Manohar Lal Khattar, Rao Inderjit Singh, and Dharmendra Pradhan, as well as BJP figures Biplab Deb and Mohan Lal Badoli.
Nayab Singh Saini, the caretaker chief minister, had been declared the BJP’s chief ministerial candidate ahead of the state assembly elections. According to the Election Commission of India, Saini secured a decisive victory in the Ladwa assembly constituency, defeating Congress candidate Mewa Singh by a margin of over 16,000 votes.
