M Jagadesh Kumar, UGC Chairman has announced the date for the Common Entrance Test (CUET) which is scheduled to be held in the first week of July. CUET is conducted by the National Testing Agency for admission to undergraduate courses in all the 45 central universities.
The UGC has informed that application for entrance test will be available in the first week of April. The test will be conducted online in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Assamese, Punjabi, Malayalam, Urdu, Odia, Bengali, and Kannada.
Kumar has also informed that admission to undergraduate courses in the central universities will be solely based on the marks scored in the entrance test, and class 12 board marks will not carry any weightage. The marks scored in 12 will be used as an eligibility criterion for the test. Each university will admit students based on a merit list prepared by NTA, and no common counseling would be conducted.
