The Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile was successfully put through a flight test by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Tuesday near Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.

The DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad conceived and created the VSHORADS, a homegrown air defence system.
The Very Short Range Air Defense System (VSHORADS) missile underwent two successful test launches on September 27 from a ground-based portable launcher at the integrated test range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha, according to a statement from the defence ministry obtained by PTI.
The tiny Reaction Control System (RCS) and integrated avionics that the VSHORADS missile contains have both been successfully tested, according to the ministry.
According to PTI, the ministry stated on the Man Portable Air Defence System that the missile is powered by a dual thrust solid motor and is intended to neutralise low altitude aerial threats at close ranges.
According to the government, “both flight tests fully accomplished the mission goals.”
